2014 VILLAGE VOICE NATIONAL FILM CRITICS POLL
January 2, 2015
Posted by on This year 85 film critics participated in the poll, the most comprehensive poll of it’s kind. It’s interesting to see how it all breaks down as so many diverse opinions reach a critical consensus. “Boyhood” was chosen Best Film along with it’s director Richard Linklater. Best Actor went to Jake Gyllenhaal for “Nightcrawler”, and Best Actress was awarded to Marion Cotillard for “The Immigrant” (currently available for rent on DVD). Perhaps the most surprising choice was in the Best First feature category where the Australian psychological horror film by Jennifer Kent, “The Babadook” won in a landslide. It’s also currently available for rent on DVD.
